Preventive Dentistry
Patients are informed about oral hygiene education and how to brush their teeth. Physician control every 6 months can be explained as determining and preventing bad habits especially for children (such as thumb sucking, nail biting, etc.), fissure sealant and fluoride applications, caries evaluations and taking necessary precautions, in addition to gaining appropriate nutrition habits.
Aesthetic Dentistry
It aims to accelerate the healing process of the patient by using the technology and possibilities of dentistry in the clinical setting, and to increase the comfort of the patient, to give a natural and beautiful appearance. We can list the application areas as smile design, gingival shaping, tooth whitening, composite bonding applications, inlay/onlay restorations, porcelain veneers, porcelain without metal support and dental implants.
Smile Design
Taking into account your personal wishes, it is aimed to plan the most beautiful smile combining function, aesthetics and naturalness. Generally: Whitening is achieved by applying one or more processes such as porcelain laminate veneer, implant or gingival leveling. Elements such as the face shape, skin color, gender, age, lips, color of the teeth, arrangement and form of the person are taken into consideration in the smile design.
Bleaching (Teeth Whitening)
Teeth whitening (bleaching) is the most recommended and used cosmetic dentistry procedure all over the world. Its reliability has been proven, and no long-term side effects and complications have been encountered. It is an easy and practical method that satisfies the patients in a very short time with its fast results.
White teeth are a feature that increases self-confidence as well as a healthy smile. The number of sessions is determined depending on the coloration of the tooth. Before the procedure, a preservative is applied so that the gums are not damaged, and then a whitening gel is applied to the teeth. This application is done three times in 15-minute periods. Although its permanence varies depending on the roughness of the tooth surfaces, the person's saliva structure, dental care, tea, coffee and cigarette consumption, it can last for 2-3 years.
Laminate Veneers
Laminate veneers; It is a solution that also includes aesthetic smile design, used for damaged teeth, which negatively affects the external appearance of the person. Laminated tooth, which consists of a layer with light permeability, is advantageous in terms of having the appearance and characteristics of teeth with its structure closest to nature.
The laminated tooth method can be performed with a little roughening on the tooth, even without the need for roughening in some cases. Laminated tooth, nail thickness, desired color, length and formIt is the process of gluing a specially prepared porcelain layer to the front surface of the tooth. The veneer made of porcelain is 0.7 mm on average. thickness, has light transmittance. It is prepared and placed on the tooth with precision
Prosthetic Dentistry
It is a treatment science that includes the diagnosis of the shape of the teeth, deformities and tooth deficiencies, treatment planning, rehabilitation process, completion of oral functions and regulation of occlusion (closure of the jaws), as well as the development of the patient's appearance and aesthetics.
Full Porcelain Crowns Without Metal Support
Porcelain is the closest to tooth enamel and yet the healthiest material. Previously, porcelains were made on a metal infrastructure for durability. The metal infrastructure could prevent the light from passing through the porcelain, causing an aesthetically dull and artificial appearance and gray areas on the tooth edges. For this reason, metal-free porcelains have a deeper and more vivid appearance due to their light transmission feature. In this way, the closest results to the natural tooth are obtained. Porcelain without metal support can be used in single tooth crown restorations, bridges with 3-6 members (anatomical length up to 38mm.) and crown-bridge works on implants.
Bridges Without Metal Support
It is obtained by compressing the porcelain by strengthening it. It is preferred in anterior teeth due to its very good light transmittance.
Zirconium Based Bridges Without Metal Support
Tooth veneers are mostly applied in the form of porcelain veneers. Dental veneers are divided into two as metal-supported and non-metal-supported. Dentists also have more aesthetic treatment approaches for patients who need a more aesthetic smile. Due to these aesthetic needs, zirconium is converted into zirconia ceramic in its color and pure mineral form and used in dentistry to offer a more natural appearance.
Due to the fact that the light transmittance of zirconium dental veneers is superior to metal-supported veneers, the dull appearance of the teeth disappears, and the teeth are provided with the closest image to their original state. In addition, zirconium crowns are more compatible with the gingiva. It does not cause gray or dark color formation on the gingival margins over time. Since it does not contain metal, it can also be used by those who are allergic to metal.
Total-Partial Prostheses
Total Prostheses
They are removable (attachable) prostheses made into the mouth as a result of the loss of all the teeth in the mouth. It is prepared by using teeth made of acrylic or porcelain on a structure made of special acrylic materials. It can be named as full palate prostheses. If the patient's mouth is ready, the measurement and rehearsals are taken and delivered within 2-3 weeks. If it will be done after tooth extraction, it is expected that the extraction sites will fully heal.
Partial Prosthesis
It is a prosthesis that is planned in partial tooth deficiency, that is, in cases where some of the teeth are lost and some of them are oral. It is prepared by using special acrylic and metals together, with metal extensions called crochet (hook), which provides attachment to the tooth and helps patientsThey are prostheses that can be taken off and put on whenever he wants. This prosthesis can be attached to the teeth in the mouth by means of clasps, or it can be attached to the teeth with sensitive retainers hidden inside with crowns, giving a more aesthetic appearance.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The main purpose of orthodontics is to prevent the formation of disorders related to the teeth, jaw and face area, and to eliminate the existing disorders by treating them. However, it is to provide good aesthetics and function (biting, chewing, speaking, laughing). In addition to providing a healthier mouth and a more pleasant appearance, orthodontic treatment helps teeth to stay healthy and straight for a lifetime. Crooked teeth are more difficult to clean with tooth brushing. Poor closure can cause abrasions on the tooth surfaces, difficulties in functions such as chewing and speaking, and excessive stress on the bone and gingival structures that support the teeth. If left untreated, many problems may become more serious over time, resulting in more complex and difficult treatment requirements in the future.
Gum Diseases
Healthy gingiva is light pink in color, matte and has a hard consistency. It ends on the tooth surface like a knife edge and does not bleed during brushing. Gum disease is a biofilm layer consisting of light yellow, soft, sticky, difficult to remove, colonized bacteria that mostly forms on the teeth. As a result of the chemical substances secreted by the bacteria in the plaque damage the gums and the bone under the gum, diseases called gingivitis, and at a more advanced stage, periodontitis occur. At this point, if the patient neglects, over time, the jaw bones surrounding the tooth roots retract due to gingival recession and tooth loss occurs.
Implantology
Implants are artificial tooth roots placed in the jaw bones and superstructures built on them to replace the lost teeth. The lack of teeth of patients who have lost their natural teeth due to trauma (bump, impact), gum disease, caries, etc. can be eliminated by placing titanium or ceramic-based artificial roots in the jaw bones that are sufficient in terms of thickness and density. In order to regain lost function and aesthetics, crown, bridge or removable prosthesis applications can be made on dental implants, thus increasing the patient's quality of life.
Filling Types
Composite Fillers
Especially in cases where aesthetics is at the forefront, they are preferred tooth-colored restorations. They can be applied without the need for excessive material loss from the tooth due to their connection properties with the tooth. It is enough just to clean the caries. Composite fillings are placed in the tooth cavity cleaned from caries in layers and each layer is hardened with a special light. Composite fillings are shaped and corrected according to the tooth during the process.
Porcelain Fillings (Inlay / Onlay Fillings)
A type of crown prosthesis that restores the loss of material in the teeth due to factors such as root canal treatment, caries and trauma, in a way that completes only the missing parts of the tooth, in simpler terms, it is made of composite or porcelain prepared in the laboratory. It is a kind of filling. Their advantages are: being aesthetic, long-lasting, protecting the remaining healthy tooth tissue, minimal risk of edge leakage and caries formation, biological compatibility, no allergic reaction, and low bacterial plaque uptake.
Canal Treatment
It is a treatment method used to repair, relieve and save (prevent loss) a severely decayed and infected tooth. When the decay progresses to the nerve chamber (pulp) in the teeth over time, a constant pain occurs in the tooth. When the aching tooth is neglected for a long time, the infection spreads to the surrounding tissues and the tooth may be lost.
Canal treatment is performed in a single session or in two sessions, depending on the condition of the tooth. The number of sessions can be increased according to the situation. The first step in root canal treatment is to take an X-ray to see the shape of the root canals and detect any signs of infection in the surrounding bone.
Teeth in the mouth can be single-rooted (anterior teeth), two-rooted (premolars), and three-rooted (molars). Sometimes there may be too many roots due to anatomical differences.
Due to the progression of the caries, root canal treatment may not be a choice but a necessity.
Oral-Tooth-Jaw Diseases And Surgery
It is a branch of surgery that deals with eliminating the irregularities of the jaw bones, regulating the way the jaw and teeth work, and the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and developmental disorders related to the mouth, teeth and jaw. Oral, dental and maxillofacial surgery is effective in many areas such as extraction of complicated and impacted teeth, treatments of formations such as cysts and tumors in the jaws, treatment of soft tissue diseases of the oral region, treatment of dental intraosseous lesions, correction of soft and hard tissues before dental prosthesis, implant applications.
Orthognathic Surgery
Orthognathic surgery is a surgical method that helps to correct deformities of the jaws. It is a technique needed when the jaws are not compatible with each other or when the teeth are not compatible with the jaws. In this treatment, the orthodontist and the surgeon work together. Teeth are corrected orthodontically and jaws are corrected surgically. These processes not only improve the facial appearance, but also ensure the harmony and proper functioning of the teeth. In this way, the patient can speak and chew more comfortably. In other words, both aesthetic and functional improvement is achieved.
Included Wisdom Teeth
Twenty-year-old teeth can often remain impacted because they are located in the back of the jaw and are the last teeth to erupt. They can be semi-buried (partially in the jawbone) and fully buried (all in the jawbone). While a part of the tooth is covered with gingiva, infection and related swelling of the face and problems with jaw opening and closing movements may occur frequently. As a result of repeated infections, the bone around the wisdom teeth begins to melt and inflammatory tissue forms in its place. In addition, due to its position and position in the jawbone, it can put pressure on the molars in front of it and damage them, and the force it applies from the corner of the mouth to the front can cause crooked teeth.
The extraction of wisdom teeth is usually done surgically.
